59% of Voters Agree with Rep. Comer’s Claim that Bidens ‘Have Been Influence-Peddling for a Decade’
U.S. likely voters largely agree that the family of President Joe Biden has “been influence-peddling for a decade.”
Last October, Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.) made the claim in an interview with Fox News, referring to the Biden clan as a “crime family”:
“You look at the facts with Hunter Biden and Jim Biden, the entire Biden crime family, as I would call it, they have been influence-peddling for a decade.”
As The New York Post noted at the time, there had been 150 suspicious activity reports filed by banks against Hunter Biden, but the FBI hadn’t yet taken action.
Comer, now the chairman of the House Oversight and Accountability Committee, said Monday that hearings into alleged Biden family influence-peddling will begin next week. “I think that we can play a huge role in investigating this administration,” Comer said during an appearance at the National Press Club.
In a national survey of 1,000 U.S. likely voters, conducted January 26-29, 2023, Rasmussen Reports quoted Rep. Comer’s October 2022 claim, without attribution, asking the following question:
“Do you agree or disagree that members of the Biden family ‘have been influence-peddling for a decade’?”
Fifty-nine percent (59%) of voters said that they agreed with that assessment, including 46% who “strongly” agreed that the Bidens “have been influence-peddling for a decade.” Thirty-one percent (31%) disagreed (18% “strongly”), while 10% said they were “not sure.”
“There’s nothing like it in the history of America. We’ve never had a family that has influence-pedaled to this degree,” Rep. Comer said in a Fox News interview last December.
