AOC Roundly Mocked for ‘Invisible Handcuffs’ Stunt While Being Led Away From SCOTUS Protest to Be Ticketed
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) is being roundly mocked for her on-camera stunt Tuesday, in which she faked being handcuffed by U.S. Capitol police as she was led away to be ticketed for obstructing traffic and illegally crowding during a pro-abortion protest outside the Supreme Court on Tuesday.
“Those arrested were ticketed and released on-site, as is standard practice during events such as this, said Capitol Police spokesman Tim Barber,” The Washington Post explains:
“Washington Post Seventeen members of Congress — including Democratic Reps. Cori Bush (Mo.), Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (N.Y.), Rashida Tlaib (Mich.) and Ilhan Omar (Minn.) — were among dozens of abortion rights protesters arrested Tuesday outside the Supreme Court in a rally demanding immediate action to protect abortion following the court’s decision last month to overturn Roe v. Wade.
“Thirty-five people were arrested for crowding, obstructing or incommoding, a D.C. code often cited when arresting protesters during peaceful, planned and coordinated actions of civil disobedience such as the demonstration on Tuesday. Those arrested were ticketed and released on-site, as is standard practice during events such as this, said Capitol Police spokesman Tim Barber.”
Ocasio-Cortez even had the gall to break her charade long enough to briefly raise a fist to the crowd, before going back to pretending to be handcuffed.
Viewers of Ocasio-Cortez’s sham are having a field day at the congresswoman’s expense.
After Tucker Carlson mocked Cortez’s “invisible handcuffs” stunt on his Tuesday show, a clip of the Fox News host’s comments quickly went viral on social media:
“Ocasio-Cortez and fellow Democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) “decide to block traffic in front of the Supreme Court, because ‘Girl Power’ means blocking traffic.”
“And, that’s when police officers did something they’ve never done before: those mean cops put both Sandy Cortez and Ilhan Omar in invisible handcuffs and led them away with their hands behind their back,” Carlson said.
Carlson also chided liberal media for promoting the images “as proof that Sandy Cortez and Ilhan Omar are deeply oppressed.”
