Biden: “Every Time I Hear 'Hail to the Chief,' I Wonder, Where the Hell Is He?”

(CNSNews.com) – The president was joking, but maybe it’s not so funny.

In his remarks to the White House Congressional picnic on Tuesday, President Joe Biden began this way:

“Well, folks, you know, you don’t have to stand. Every time I hear ‘Hail to the Chief,’ I wonder where the hell is he? It took me a long while — you think I’m joking. I’m not. I turn about around and — where — where’s the president?

“Folks, look, you know, I’m Jill Biden’s husband and proud of it. You know, it’s been — we’re honored to get this tradition going after three years. Three years, two on our watch and one before that because of COVID, we’re able to get together again.”

But earlier that same day, President Biden’s COVID team warned Americans about the rapidly spreading BA-5 omicron variant, which is “immune-evading,” they said.

The health officials urged Americans to get up to date on their vaccinations, including booster shots, and to wear masks indoors in “high COVID areas,” which currently describes 39 percent of the country, CDC Director Rochelle Walensky said.

According to Dr. Anthony Fauci, the prevalent BA-5 variant “substantially evades neutralizing antibodies induced in people by vaccination and infection.” But he and the other experts urged people to get vaccinated, if not to prevent COVID, at least to minimize its symptoms.
