Congressional Resolution Would Make Jan. 22 ‘Day of Tears’ in Memory of 60 Million Aborted Babies

(CNSNews.com) – A resolution introduced in the House and Senate by Rep. Andrew Clyde (R.-Ga.) and Sen. Mike Braun (R.-Indiana) would make January 22—the day that the Supreme Court issued its Roe v. Wade decision—the “Day of Tears.”

“Since Roe v. Wade, the evils of abortion have unlawfully terminated more than 60 million innocent lives—all precious, worth saving, and made in the perfect image of God,” Clyde said in a press release. “I’m proud to introduce this resolution to recognize the anniversary of this dreadful decision as the Day of Tears to honor and mourn the loss of these unborn children.”

“I am proud to introduce the Senate resolution recognizing the over 60 million lost to abortion since the Supreme Court’s 1973 decision and calling for flags to be flown at half-staff in their memory,” said Braun. “

On Tuesday, Clyde gave a speech on the House floor about the resolution. He also discussed the Protect the Unborn Act that he had introduced with 90 cosponsors. This bill would “block and defund President Biden’s pro-abortion executive orders.”

“This past Sunday, on January 22, our Nation mourned the 50th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the treacherous ruling that paved the way for the murder of more than 60 million innocent babies, all precious, all worth saving, and all made in the perfect image of God,” Clyde said.

“Thankfully, the victorious Dobbs ruling overturned Roe v. Wade last year, rightfully returning the issue of abortion back to the States,” he said. “However, while we champion this momentous win in the fight for the unborn, we cannot forget the millions of lives lost to the evils of abortion.

“Today, I introduced a resolution to recognize January 22 as the ‘Day of Tears’ to honor and mourn the loss of these unborn children,” said Clyde.

“But in the face of President Biden’s pro-abortion agenda, we must do more to defend the sanctity of human life. May God raise up more warriors to protect innocent life because life, after all, is our first and foremost fundamental unalienable right,” he said.

“Last week, I proudly introduced–with nearly 90 original cosponsors–the Protect the UNBORN Act to block and defund President Biden’s pro-abortion executive orders,” Clyde said. “Congress must take action to protect the unborn and prevent taxpayer dollars from funding the left’s radical and destructive abortion agenda.

“We must never downplay the evils of abortion,” he said. “As an unapologetic pro-life advocate, I am proud to defend the unborn and fight for the sanctity of life.”
