The famous playwright David Mamet is one of the most high-profile conservatives working in the arts today.

During a recent interview with Breitbart, Mamet talked about how Trump lives rent-free in the heads of people on the left.

He suggested that this makes Trump a sort of leader for the left, whether they ralize it or not.

Exclusive — David Mamet: Donald Trump Is the Left’s Real Leader Because Their Hatred ‘Unified Them’

Acclaimed Glengarry Glen Ross playwright and Wag the Dog screenwriter David Mamet told Breitbart News he believes that Donald Trump is the political left’s true leader because their hatred of the former president has “unified them.”

“How can this many people be galvanized without a leader on whom to heap their devotion? I realized they did have a leader on whom to heap their devotion, but it was a devotion to murdering him, and it was Donald Trump,” he said.

“Why is his name constantly in your mouth? It’s because it unified them.”

That is one of the many conclusions Mamet draws in his new book of essays Recessional: The Death of Free Speech and the Cost of a Free Lunch. In an interview with Breitbart News’ editor-in-chief Alex Marlow on Breitbart News Daily on Sirius XM Patriot 125, he explained the book’s overarching idea — how the left’s groupthink and mob mentality stifles free speech and threatens democracy.

The left has turned on Mamet because of his support for Trump, as described in this February piece from the Guardian:

Mamet became a vocal Trump supporter during his presidency, which can’t have been easy in the Democratic stronghold of California. “Well, he did a great job as a president.” Really? “Well, if you put everything you see on these little screens aside and look at what happened during the Trump presidency. We told China to knock it off. We told Nato to start paying their fair share. We moved the Embassy of the United States to Jerusalem in Israel . . . Gas prices were down. There was the lowest black unemployment in history …”

Not everyone who works in Hollywood is a leftist.
