Illegal Immigration from Canada Topped Last 3 Fiscal Years Combined in Just 5 Months, Sector’s Chief Patrol Agent Reports

“The Biden Border Crisis is not just at our southern border – the northern border is seeing an unprecedented surge of illegal aliens,” Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) tweeted Wednesday, drawing attention to an account of a chief border patrol agent.

Cruz links to an article citing Chief Patrol Agent Robert Garcia of the Swanton Sector, which encompasses all of Vermont, as well as parts of New York and New Hampshire.

On March 8, Garcia reported via a tweet that, in less than a half-year, the number of illegal entries from Canada surpassed the total of the last three fiscal years combined, in an unprecedented surge:

“Swanton Sector Agents are seeing elevated levels of illegal entries from Canada. In just over 5 months, we have apprehended more individuals than the last three (3) Fiscal Years combined. The current rate of illicit cross-border activity is unprecedented for Swanton Sector.”

In January alone, the sector’s border agents nabbed a record-breaking 367 illegal aliens, more than the total number apprehended in the previous 12 Januarys combined, Garcia told The Center Square, which reported in a separate article that apprehensions for October 2022 through January of 2023 skyrocketed 846% from the same period a year ago.

In other tweets over the past month, Garcia has detailed how severe the problem has become, noting that illegal immigrants caught trying to break into the U.S. through the Swanton Sector have hailed from a number of different countries:
