Joe Biden Makes Completely False Claim About The Second Amendment (VIDEO)
(From American Lookout - READ ORIGINAL)
Joe Biden was in New York City this week to talk about violent crime, which he naturally blamed on guns.
During his remarks, he also made a completely false claim about the Second Amendment, saying that when it was written, you couldn’t buy a canon.
Smarter people have since spoken out to correct him.
FOX News reports:
Biden repeats debunked Second Amendment cannon claim, says ‘no amendment is absolute’
President Joe Biden said Thursday that “no amendment is absolute” while discussing the Second Amendment and repeated a debunked claim that cannons were prohibited when the amendment was passed.
“There’s no violation of the Second Amendment right,” Biden said in New York City while discussing background checks and other ways to address gun crime. “We talk like. There’s no amendment that’s absolute. When the amendment was passed it didn’t say anybody can own a gun, any kind of gun, and any kind of weapon. You couldn’t buy a cannon when this amendment was passed so there’s no reason why you should be able to buy certain assault weapons. But that’s another issue.”
Biden has been criticized for using the same cannon example in the past and earned “Four Pinocchios” from the Washington Post in 2021 over the claim and also a “False” label from Politifact in 2020.

Does Biden ever get tired of being wrong?
Oh, also, you can still legally own a canon today. They’re regulated as destructive devices under the National Firearms Act of 1934, but they’re still legal for civilians to own.

Biden is historically illiterate. Washington sourced privately-owned cannons for the War of Independence. Even the pilgrims brought their own civilian-owned cannons with them on the Mayflower. I’ll have more on this soon. https://t.co/oOyufn3My5

You could 100% buy a cannon. In fact, much of the artillery used by America during the Revolution was privately owned. There is no United States without private artillery, which is why the British government tried to ban American industry from even manufacturing cannons. https://t.co/VIQw2Xp2NI

Biden should probably avoid topics he clearly doesn’t understand.
