Levin: ‘Huge Mistake’ for Schools Not to Want Armed Guards
(CNSNews.com) — Schools must prioritize the safety of their students and it is a ‘huge mistake’ for schools not to want armed guards, radio host Mark Levin stated Tuesday on “The Mark Levin Show.”
Levin noted that hiring armed guards was not a question of resources, given the hundreds of billions in funding allocated during the pandemic.
“Let’s protect the kids in these classrooms the way we would protect, you know, anything else,” the radio host and author said. “We’re protecting our airports, we have TSA, they’re armed. Every state, every state, should insist and ensure that every school in the state at least has some level of defensibility. And you can’t do it without an armed, trained force, you just can’t do it.”
“If somebody’s going to break into your home and you’re a father or a mother, you’ll fight to the death to protect your child. Shouldn’t there be a capacity for a school that has your kids seven, eight hours a day to do exactly the same?”
Below is a transcript of this portion of “The Mark Levin Show”:
Mark Levin: “There should at least be one armed, trained protector, protector, in every single school. If it’s a large high school, more than one. And you’re going to hear people and you’ve heard them call in, say ‘we don’t have the resources.’ We do have the resources. We have the resources for all these crazy ideologies and teachers and all the rest of it. We have the resources. The COVID money was almost a quarter of a trillion dollars and most of it didn’t even go toward the COVID issue. So it’s not a matter of resources; it’s a matter of priorities and it’s a matter of motivation.
“You have a lot of school districts and schools that do not want an armed guard. This is a huge mistake; I’m not saying it’s this one, by the way, for all I know they had one. Maybe they were thinly staffed, I just don’t know; we’ll find out. And I’m not ready to just start pouncing.
“But throughout our country, we have many, many schools that are not protected, many that are not protected. We have many schools that focus their resources on the wrong things and they don’t want the parents involved and they don’t want the community involved and that’s got to stop, that’s got to stop. Those little babies who died today, 18 of them, they had mothers, they had fathers, as well as that teacher who was slaughtered. Horrific, just horrific. And people want to do something. Well let’s do it, let’s do it.
“Let’s protect the kids in these classrooms the way we would protect, you know, anything else. We’re protecting our airports, we have TSA, they’re armed. Every state, every state, should insist and ensure that every school in the state at least has some level of defensibility. And you can’t do it without an armed, trained force, you just can’t do it.
“And you know we sign executive orders left and right to do a thousand different things. But if I hear one more time ‘we’re having a committee meeting’ or ‘if I’ve asked the Department of Equity to take a look at this’ or ‘we’re going to,’ you know – I don’t want to hear it anymore. I don’t want to hear it anymore.
“We’re rational people, we know what has to be done to some extent. Some of it’s just too complicated but some of it — to some extent — give these little babies a fighting chance; they can’t defend themselves.
“If somebody’s going to break into your home and you’re a father or a mother, you’ll fight to the death to protect your child. Shouldn’t there be a capacity for a school that has your kids seven, eight hours a day to do exactly the same?”
