Speaker McCarthy: ‘House of Representatives Will Hold Alvin Bragg and His Unprecedented Abuse of Power to Account’

(CNSNews.com) – House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R.-Calif.) sent out a tweet on Thursday evening saying that the House of Representatives, which he leads, will hold Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg “to account” of the indictment of former President Donald Trump.

“Alvin Bragg has irreparably damaged our country in an attempt to interfere in our presidential election,” McCarthy said in his tweet.

“As he routinely frees violent criminals to terrorize the public, he weaponized our sacred system of justice against President Donald Trump,” said McCarthy.

“The American people will not tolerate injustice, and the House of Representatives will hold Alvin Bragg and his unprecedented abuse of power to account,” said the speaker of the House.

An Associated Press story published Thursday about Bragg said: “A New York grand jury that voted to indict former President Donald Trump on charges involving payments made during the 2016 presidential campaign to silence claims of an extramarital sexual encounter has refocused attention on the Manhattan district attorney steering the case. Alvin Bragg’s decision to convene the grand jury early this year led to the first criminal charge against a former U.S. president.”
