TV Shows Rush to Book Planned Parenthood President After Leak of Supreme Court Draft Opinion on Abortion
After nearly a month without a major network television appearance, the president and CEO of the Planned Parenthood Federation, Alexis McGill Johnson, became a hot commodity overnight after the leak of a draft Supreme Court majority opinion signaling the reversal of Roe v. Wade.
Monday evening, Politico published the text of the draft opinion, which would reverse Roe, which makes abortion a right, nationally. If the justices’ reported stances hold, the Supreme Court’s ruling would put the matter of abortion into the hands of each individual state.
Beginning Tuesday, Johnson, who also heads the Planned Parenthood Action Fund, has made at least 11 television appearances, most frequently on CNN and MSNBC, to voice outrage over the potential decision and call for viewers to take action to protect abortion rights:
